TUNES THAT SEEK YOUR EARS
TUNES THAT SEEK YOUR EARS
ARTIST STATEMENT
For this recording I have tried to play without thinking too hard, experimenting until I captured something cohesive. In doing this, I discovered even more for myself what kind of journey these tunes could take me on, and I wonder if they will take you somewhere interesting, too, as you listen. It is also an experiment, releasing music to you in this way. If the internet can be a great tool for broadcasting, I wonder if this a good way to do it.
You’ve made it. This is where you can download my brand new June 2024 recording Tunes That Seek Your Ears. If you didn’t purchase a download card, you can always send a tip at any time. Or even better, become a monthly patron in any amount.

TRACKS LIST
- Leather Britches - Not actually about pants, it’s about beans that look like pants. Naturally!
- Wagoner’s Lad - This tune is more commonly known as Jack of Diamonds, but I first heard the John Hartford version with the Wagoner’s Lad lyrics: Oh your parents don’t like me / I’m poor they are told etc.
- Fire on the Mountain - Probably an old flute march that got faster and more notey over time in our country.
- Maiden’s Prayer - Originally a Classical waltz that was adapted and made its way into Bob Wills’ repertoire while he was working as a barber in New Mexico.
- Wouldn’t Trade It Away - Something blues-based I came up with for this set.
