Sample Film Projects

I love to write music for film. Every assignment is like a puzzle to solve and it’s done when the score and picture work off each other in just the right way. View the samples below. Or if you’re actively looking for music to use, view the library I’ve created of music by myself and my friends.

Why Fair Trade Chocolate Matters - Equal Exchange

Daniel Klein produced a lot of nice documentary work on food related issues when he was making his Perennial Plate series (and used a lot of music by my band in them). For this piece, he called me about a week before the deadline with the need for original music, and it was a lot of fun to help him tell this story.

Minnesota 13 - Current Resident Production Company

Perennial Plate - Episode 96

Empire Builder - Kris Swanberg

I’ve worked with Kris a couple times and I think this is my favorite scene we’ve done together. At the time we both lived pretty near this neighborhood of Chicago.

An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge

Composed and performed with my bandmates in the Orange Mighty Trio and commissioned by Square Lake Film and Music Festival, this was the first film to be featured on the Twilight Zone that wasn’t originally created for the show!

Metropolis - Fritz Lang

Re-score of these famous opening scenes of the retro future.

Westworld

Even though I didn’t win the competition (there were 11,000 entries I found out later) I liked this little project enough to include it as another example of a minimalist-influenced score.

Score for Ayurvedic Dance - Becky Heist

Spit With Purpose - Nebula Genomics
