Ode to Joy (and more)
We have just added the middle section for Ode to Joy.
On D: 1 1 2 D 1 23 2 D 1 23 2 1 D 1 1(on G)
Below is the full orchestra playing the end of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (the source of this famous melody) for inspiration:
Another optional thing that some of the student can add is the Lion Sleeps Tonight melody. When switching strings I’ve put the parantheses after the note on the new string. So 3(onD) means 3rd finger on the D string. (We will get into real note reading next school year.)
D 1 2 1 2 3 2 1 D 1 2 1 D 2 1
A 2(onD) 1 2 A 3(onD) 2 1 D 1 2 1 D 2 1
And finally, Cluck Old Hen melody if anyone still needs it. This is another “challenge” piece.
A 3 L2 3 A 3 3(onD)
A 3 L2 32A 3(onD)2 D
D D L2 D D 3(onG) D D L2 2 3 A 3(onD) 2 D
Below is a great Old-Time rendition of the Cluck Old Hen played and sung by Tim O’Brien. The lyrics are slightly different than the 1 verse we are singing.
