Shipping Port

A similar version by Kentucky fiddler John Masters was recorded in the 1970’s. But I really got into Rafe Stefanini’s version, which is crooked (extra half measure in the B part). I tried to show the phrasing in my choice of time signatures there. In other words, the downbeat of measure 13 seemed like it should be strong.

As far as technique, the slurs may provide a good challenge. They are my own, but inspired by the recording. I would try to play it in the middle or lower half of the bow, which often works well for Old-Time. For variations, find some places to add double stops to fill it out.
