Christmas Day in the Morning

I learned this in order to play it in Katie MacMahon’s Celtic Christmas show. In fact, over the years I think we have played nearly every Christmas and winter-themed Celtic fiddle tune that we could find. In the future I’ll post some of the others and even our version of Greensleeves as a jig (which works pretty well). In any case, this is one of my favorites for its cheerful sound— such a bouncy jig with all the quarter notes— and I’ve notated it exactly the way I like to play it. There will be some challenge to this one, I think, if you want to learn all the slides, ornaments and slurs! But, if you want something more basic you can ignore all of that and it will then become pretty approachable. Enjoy.

I liked this early music version and it has the same funny 4-note beat that I play in the B part.
