Baritone (aka Octave) Violins, an article by Darol Anger about this uncommon instrument (really a conventional violin with special strings) he and I both play. Also includes info on where to order the strings.

Fiddler's Companion, a treasure trove of musicological and historical information. If you want to look into one researcher's ideas on the history and lore of fiddle tunes, this searchable index is the place to go.

Finale's free "Notepad" notation software. I use Finale to create scores and this "light" version is usable to get the basics done for free.

Fiddle-L discussion list. Brown University hosted listserv (e-mail) discussion group, where there you can always learn something. Discussions of things common to all fiddlers and obscure things as well.

Wikipedia Music-- Free Music Encyclopedia. Everyone knows about Wikipedia by now and this is part dedicated to music.

Recommended listening. A list of favorites I put together. These are records that have influenced me and that I haven't gotten tired of.
