ZACK KLINE OFFICIAL BIO
“Burning new talent” — Darol Anger
Performer-teacher-composer Zack Kline can conjure up variations on fiddle tunes or virtuosic compositions with equal ease. The Star Tribune calls him a “versatile young violin ace” and the Minneapolis City Pages say he can sound like, “Grappelli here, Heifetz there, Vassar Clements over there.” Zack creates accessible and complex fiddle-influenced chamber music, which has been featured on
Bowed Radio, All Songs Considered, and in numerous indie films.
As a young fiddler, Zack took classical lessons but also studied American roots music firsthand, playing with traditional and progressive bluegrass groups, including many appearances with the Yonder Mountain String Band. His performing experience now extends to the realms of Celtic, Swing, Indie Rock, and he even had a chance jam session with traditional Mongolian musicians in Vienna.
An in-demand clinican and private teacher, Zack has shared his fiddle knowledge at his own Chicago Fiddle Camp, the RockyGrass Bluegrass Academy and Mark O’Connor Camp, among others. He has written and arranged a lot of music for students, and leads his private students to discover technique, creativity and style.
